OFSTED Registration No: 2652139

We know that choosing the right environment for your child's care is one of the most important decisions you will make for your little one. Bees Knees Pre-school provides childcare and education for children aged 2 to 5 years. We are OFSTED registered and a member of the Early Years Alliance.

The Pre-school is open every week during term time, from 9.15am until 3.15pm. We offer sessions from 9.5am until 12.15pm and 12.15pm until 3.15pm. For children who are with us for both sessions, we request they bring a packed lunch.

Meet the Team

Debra Turner

Pre-school Manager

I have previously worked in various nurseries and prior to 2020 I was a registered childminder working from my own home.

In late 2020 I made the decision that I wanted to return to a nursery setting and the opportunity arose to set up a Pre-school at The Hive.

Sarah Pullen

Pre-school Assistant

I have previously worked at Silsden Primary School as a teaching assistant and lunchtime supervisor.

I volunteered at The Hive prior to the Pre-school opening to assist Debra with the setup of the Pre-school.

I am currently in the process of studying towards my Level 3 Early Years Educator, which I aim to complete this year (2024).

Hannah Metcalfe

Pre-school Assistant

Since August 2014,  I worked as a Level 3 Nursery Practitioner at Burley Nursery School.

My son came to Bees Knees Pre-school prior to starting primary school and as I live in Silsden and a position arose, I jumped at the chance to join the team.

Curriculum Intent

At Bee's Knees Pre-school, our curriculum intent is to provide children with the best possible start in life, ensuring they learn and develop well in a play-based environment. We believe that a broad range of knowledge and skills is essential in laying the right foundation for future progress. Our aim is to promote equality of opportunity, enabling every child to thrive and reach their full potential.

We are committed to offering a high-quality, carefully planned, and sequenced curriculum that has a positive impact on children's progress. By fostering strong foundations and resilience, we aim to equip children with the skills they need to become successful, life-long learners and valuable members of society.

Our curriculum is designed to serve as the cultural capital that we recognise our children require. We acknowledge and value the existing knowledge and interests the children bring with them, and we build upon this by providing opportunities for exploration, vocabulary development, and the acquisition of language structures. We believe that language is a powerful tool for learning, and we actively encourage children to build and use their vocabulary and language skills across all areas of the curriculum.

To ensure meaningful learning experiences, we link children's learning to their play and exploration. We provide a holistic provision that nurtures their curiosity and encourages independent thinking. By allowing children to engage in purposeful and enjoyable play, we believe they will develop a love for learning and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.

At Bee's Knees Pre-school, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired. By focusing on building strong foundations, fostering resilience, and promoting cultural capital, we strive to empower our children to become confident, creative, and well-rounded individuals.

With our carefully crafted curriculum, we aim to ignite a lifelong passion for learning, enabling our children to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as they grow and progress through their educational journey and beyond.
